No joggin no bloggin

My running and blogging have been equally pathetic over the past two months. Since my last post in December all three of my kids have turned a year older, we have traveled to Arizona and Disneyland, my older two kids have learned to ski, I have purchased two Snuggies with book lights, I have completed the medium level "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" on Guitar Hero (which is saying a lot for me), and I have run about 20 miles total. Not much to blog about on RunBend when you are not running.

Why am I not running you ask? Because I'm lazy, I'm busy, it's cold out, and I'm injured. I developed Achilles tendonitis atop my plantar fasciitis, the sum of which takes all the fun out of running. I have however managed to purchase two pair of running shoes over the past 4 weeks to get my fix. It's still fun to pretend I'm a runner.

On my slow 5 mile run today I contemplated whether or not I will ever be in racing form again. The jury is still out, but as I knock down this bag of chips, I know it won't be anytime soon. I definitely don't feel as though a Spring marathon is in the cards. If I could figure out how to turn off my Eugene Marathon countdown timer I would. I am quite certain I will not be toeing the line in that race. Besides, my fragile running ego couldn't handle a loss to Meissner. My only saving grace right now is that I suspect my running colleagues in Mercer Island and Tennessee are feeling equally as lame as I am. Rumor has it they also have foot and heel injuries. Perhaps they are taking the same "do nothing" approach to rehab as I am.

Modified 2009 goals. Finish a 5k, volunteer in a 10k, watch my wife run in a marathon.

Caba...Out

That spooky, zoned-out stare is all the proof I need that the Snuggie/GuitarHero Alliance now brazenly corrupts even our most distinguished citizens.

I like to see that you still have goals although they are not the variety that you would choose first. I have heard that proper rehab does work, you should give it a try.

Just tell me when and where on the 5K. We've still got a score to settle...and I'll take you on in "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" as well! As the Cobra Kai's say, "NO MERCY!"

Ouch. What's next, are you going to sweep my leg?

What? First Meissner runs sub-Caba at Crater Lake, is pretty proud of that, then you put him back in his place by soundly whooping him in 4 fall races.

Now you're worried about a fragile ego? That's crap. Get your sorry blue ass off the couch and out running.
